Land Management

Land Management

SITA employ the services of EcoSurv to carry out land management at one of their landfill sites in the North East of England. This site has a population of Great Crested Newts and the site has non-permanent newt barrier surrounding it, as this is non-permanent it requires constant monitoring to ensure its integrity, as any breech would mean a possible cessation of works on the site until any wayward newts had been removed and clearly this could be a costly exercise for both the newts in terms of harm to them and to SITA in terms of lost productivity.

As can be seen from these images damage can come from a number of sources, including ‘fly tipping’, overgrowth of vegitation and vandalism, and this requires constant monitoring and efficient management. EcoSurv are experienced in this sort of land management and where any work is to be carried out on land where European Protected Species are involved then such works are under the supervision of experienced, and suitably licensed staff.
